POEM: In History by Miracle Adebayo

Right in the city of the blacks

Is the epitome of power,

Grounded in a city of biased ruling

Where certain voices must be heard

And certain voices unheard

Under the jurisdiction of gender.

Yet, with a zealous spirit

 The strong-willed keeps pushing

Against all odds and diversity of limited potentials.

The determination to do exploits

Keeps soaring above the structured restraint.

Hand in hand of equally willed minds

The bands of societal limitations and expectations were disbanded,

As the bar was consciously raised

While retaining the identity of responsibility.

Now in Freedom

Yet subtly restricted,

All tenets are being crossed and explored,

Emitting worth that shuts the avenue of limitations

While embracing the responsibility of the virtuous one.

Today in history

We celebrate the records, perseverance and pursuit of the Zealous Women

Happy International Women's Day
