In its effort to proffer practical solutions to the impact of climate change, The International Climate Change Development Initiative on Thursday, May 11, 2023, trained over 70 Osun residents on climate solution leadership.
The training was supported by the Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund and held at the Conference Hall, Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Abere, Osun State with participants from across different towns in the state.

Speaking on the reason for the training, Mr Olumide Idowu, the Executive Director of the International Climate Change Development Initiative noted that it is an attempt to engage young people to identify the problems and proffer solutions.
He added that the initiative decided to create something around leadership, climate change and link it to solutions because “ a lot of young people are passionate about the environment and most of them don't know how to start since they do not have information”.

In the course of the training, participants were categorized into six groups and asked to figure out how sectors like Energy, Transportation, Agriculture, Water Management, Waste Management, and Industry have been contributing to climate change in the State while also highlighting the practical solutions.

Osun to Unveil Climate Agenda on World Environment Day
Earlier in his remark, Mr Oladele Timothy, Coordinating Director of the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation on behalf of the Governor welcomed the participants to the training. He noted that the governor of the State, Mr Ademola Adeleke is in tune with the global practice.
He revealed that the climate change department has been approved in the ministry and will be unveiled on June 5, 2023, by the Governor.
Reactions From Participants
One of the participants, Pamilerin Sunday while commending the organisers of the training noted that he has been impacted. He revealed that it's a motivation for him to inform the youths who are ignorant about the problems of climate change and work together to proffer solutions.
As for Oduwole Muthmoheenah, a student at the Osun State University, the training enriches her insight into the climate change problems and she plans to implement it through her organization, Ecoweal.
“Before now, I feel that we have enough people on climate problems and providing solutions but with this program, I have a rethink about everything that we didn't have enough people,” she further said.
